Global Model Maps Future Australian Wine Exports

Researchers at the University of Adelaide in Australia have mapped data using a newly revised and updated model of the world’s wine markets.  The data shows that the high value of the Australian dollar and the exchange rates between 2007-2011 reduced premium wine prices in Australia by 20% – more than any other wine-producing country in the Southern Hemisphere.  The data has also been used to project Australian wine exports over the next five years.  Wine consumption in China is expected to outstrip production and China’s share of Australia’s wine export earnings could rise from 13% in 2012 to 20%-28% by 2018 if the Australian dollar doesn’t rise again.
