GrainCorp Boosts Vic Manufacturing Hub

GrainCorp Oils is investing $125 million to create a manufacturing hub in Victoria adjacent to major oilseed growing regions to create greater vertical integrations of refining and packaging facilities near canola producing and crushing sites. The project involves upgrading and expanding GrainCorp Oilseed’s operations in Numurkah in Victoria to add vegetable oil processing capabilities, and the GrainCorp Food’s operation in West Footscray in Melbourne to create a food processing plant with added capability to process retail spreads, bakery fats, and shortenings.  Additionally GrainCorp Food’s operations in Murarrie, Queensland will be transferred to these upgraded facilities by the beginning of 2016.  The investment will also reduce the company’s carbon emissions by 25,000 tons per year through the replacement of outmoded coal-fired equipment.
