In Rare Move Argentine Corn Heads to United States

 

Rare shipments of corn from Argentina are arriving in the U.S. after the U.S. lost one third of its corn production in 2012 as a result of drought conditions.  And in a domino effect, Mexico, which usually buys 90% of its corn from the U.S. is also purchasing shipments of corn from Argentina because of a lack of supply to the north.  The bulk of Argentina’s corn will be harvested in April and the country expects a harvest of 25.7 million tons compared with a 2011/12 drought-stricken harvest of 21.2 million tons.
