Mascoma Withdraws its Big Biofuels IPO

 

Despite funding from some of the premier venture capital firms in Silicon Valley, and raising more than $135 million in equity, biofuel start-up Mascoma has withdrawn its registration for a $100 million initial public offering citing “market conditions”.  Cleantech companies have had good results going through IPOs however this hasn’t been the case for many biofuel firms.  For a chart of biofuel companies that have gone public since 2010, their IPO price compared to their current price, and more about Mascoma’s business:
