The Netherlands-based grain trader, Nidera, has acquired full ownership of the USA/USC Terminal at the strategic Black Sea port of Constanta, Romania. Constanta plays a pivotal role in the export of agricultural products from Central and Eastern European countries and particularly from the inlands of Romania and the Balkans. Nidera has been using the terminal for the export of oilseeds and grains over the past years, and already has two inland silos. However the company has two additional silos planned in Romania and the expansion of its network and improvements to its origination program make the addition of the terminal which has the storage capacity of 250,000 tons of grain and the ability to load two Panamax ships at the same time, an added benefit fitting with the company’s need to optimize its logistics.
