Mellinger’s Minutes: Non Traditional Player (NTP) Investors and Funds

Greg Mellinger, CEO and founder of HighQuest Partners, the parent company of Global AgInvesting, travels the globe making connections to bring the ag community together and examine marketplace needs and developments. From time to time, GAI News will feature his insights about the sector in “Mellinger’s Minutes.” We hope you enjoy this first-hand look at ag.

“My client meetings often focus on the rise/role of Non Traditional Player (NTP) investors and funds in the agricultural sector.

Private Equity firm Hosen Investment Management is one such group that was spun out from New Hope Group, a Chinese feed manufacturer. Hosen Fund III recently raised $440 million from the U.S., and EU institutional investors, and a German animal nutrition firm Evonik.

Hosen Fund III’s rapid capital raise brings total AUM to $2.3 billion with Blue Chip investors International Finance Corporation, Temasek, Mitsui, ADM, and New Hope Group. I expect to see many more ‘Hosen-like’ entities launched in the coming years, alongside the dozens already operating in the sector.”
