Monsanto Canada is investing $100 million over the next 10 years through its Canada Corn Expansion Project to develop corn hybrids that would mature in as little as 70 days for cultivation in Canada’s Western Prairies. If successful the project could boost Western Canada’s annual corn acreage from the current 300,000-500,000 acres to 8-10 million – leading corn to have the same explosive growth that soybeans have experienced in the past six to eight years.
