The soybean is the largest single commodity exported to China in terms of value and accounts for more than 50% of total U.S. agricultural exports to China. China imported $13 billion worth of soybeans from the U.S in 2012. In 2003 China took a 36% share of total U.S. soybean exports and in 2012 this percentage of exports grew to 60% or approximately 25% of total U.S. production. In 2012-13 China imported 59 million tons of soybeans from the U.S. and according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture this amount will increase to 69 million tons in 2013-14.
