Farmland LP, the private equity firm that launched the U.S.’s first real estate investment trust (REIT) focused on sustainable agriculture, has announced that Stephen Hohenrieder has joined the firm as general partner. His responsibilities will include acquisitions, asset management, and strategy.
Mr. Hoherieder’s 20-year career began at Montgomery Securities, now Bank of America. He co-founded the real estate asset family office advisory firm, Featherstone Holdings, and was both COO and CEO of Lustre-Cal Corp. In addition, Mr. Hohenrieder founded the wealth management and asset management businesses at ThinkEquity Partners, which reached $1 billion in assets under management at its point of sale to Panmure Gordon. Most recently, Mr. Hohenrieder held the position of managing director and partner at Bio-Logical Capital where he headed the acquisition of the 3,700 acre Hanna Ranch – a land asset including livestock, farming, and retail operations, and two PUC-regulated water utilities.
Farmland LP is currently in the process of expanding the amount of certified organic farmland and sustainably managed land to satisfy unmet demand from livestock and crop producers. Craig Wichner, co-founded and managing partner of Farmland LP states that “Stephen brings a wealth of experience and success creating value in long-term assets,” adding, “His expertise will be invaluable as we scale our largest farmland fund to date.”
