Tandou Profit Rises 32%

The agribusiness and water investment company, Tandou, saw its profits jump 32% in the second half of 2013 to $3.4 million.  Record production of cotton equaling 72,000 bales of cotton and an average yield of 10.2 bales per hectare helped support the increase in earnings.  Tandou also had a 2013 winter cereals harvest of 5,000 hectares of durum wheat with an average yield of 5.7 tons per hectare down from 2012’s average yield of 7.1 tons per hectare because of unfavorable weather.  Tandou also acquired the “Bundygoola” irrigated property increasing its water entitlements to approximately $75 million.  The company’s total area under row crop irrigation increased to 19,400 hectares with a capacity to plant up to 11,500 hectares of cotton and 5,000 hectares of winter cereals annually.  Towards the future, Tandou is preparing up to 11,000 hectares for the 2015 cotton crop.
