The EBRD is Investing €50 million to Increase Capital of Serbia’s MK Group as Part of Agri Europe

The European Bank of Reconstruction Development (EBRD) is making its first investment in primary agriculture in Serbia with a €50 million investment in MK Group as part of Agri Europe, a holding company which consolidates the activities of sugar and beef production companies as well as farming operations owned by the Kostíc family in Serbia and Ukraine.  The funds will be used to expand the group’s farming and meat processing operations.  The Group has experienced an impressive compounded annual growth rate of 21% between 2009 and 2012.  Eventually the expansion of operations and restructuring that is planned are intended to lead to an IPO of the company.
