Valero Buys Ethanol Plant at Indiana’s Largest Port

Valero Energy Corp., the ninth largest company in the U.S. and international producer and marketer of fuel, has announced it has bought a 110 million –gallon ethanol plant t Indiana’s largest port – the Port of Indiana-Mount Vernon.  Upon completion of the purchase, Valero will own a total of 11 ethanol plants, including two in Indiana, with this being the company’s first plant on the inland waterway system.  The Port of Indiana-Mount Vernon is a 1,200 acre port which handles over 2,000 barges of grain, coal, ethanol, dried distiller grains, fertilizer, steel and minerals per year and is the closest to the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers giving Valero a strategic advantage in the production and distribution of ethanol.
