World Demand for Aquaculture Supplies and Equipment to Exceed $63 Billion in 2017

 

According to a study released by Freedonia Group, Inc., the ongoing transition to global intensive aquaculture will support greater demand for commercial feed equipment, water quality monitors, treatment equipment and fertilizers as well as market share and product segmentation.  As stocking densities rise there will be increased demand for feed supplements and pharmaceuticals.  Asia was the largest and one of the fastest growing aquaculture regions from 2002-2012.  China accounted for 61% of global aquaculture production and 51% of global demand for supplies and equipment in 2012.  South America is expected to expand its presence in the sector and the more developed aquaculture industries in North America and Europe are expected to show healthy growth.
