Aquaculture Market is Expected to Reach USD195.13 Billion in 2019: Transparency Market Research

According to a new report the global market for aquaculture will reach USD195.13 billion by 2019 from USD135.10 billion in 2012 representing a forecasted compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.1%.  Between 2013 and 2019 the volume of production in global aquaculture is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.3% and by the end of 2015 aquaculture is expected to outstrip the captured fish industry as the source of human seafood consumption.  These increases will be primarily driven by the rapid depletion in the volume of captured seafood and consumer awareness of the health benefits associated with seafood consumption. Fresh water aquaculture was the largest segment in 2012 accounting for over 60% of production and is expected to be one of the fastest growing aquaculture segments in the near future. Carps in particular accounted for over 35% of global production in 2012 because of its ability to thrive in less than ideal environmental conditions.  The fastest growing segment of the industry within the next few years will be mollusks which is expected to experience a CAGR of 2.6% between 2013 and 2019 because of an increased use of combined production systems such as rice and fish farming.
