Brazil Reports Growth in Revenue From Poultry Exports in 2013

According to the Brazilian poultry union (UBABEF) exports of Brazilian poultry declined 2.1% between January and October 2012 compared to the same time period in 2012 however over this time period revenues from poultry exports increased 4.2% to a value of US$7.160 billion.  All poultry segments reported lowered volume except chicken and genetic material.  In October exports of Brazilian chicken meat reached 355,400 tons, a record for the country and 3.5% higher than in October of 2012.  For the full year shipments of poultry meat totaled 3.22 million tons with revenue of $6.671 billion.  Shipments of egg between January and October fell 54.8% from the same time period in 2012 to 9,829 tons and revenue decreased 48.7% to $17.5 million.  Exports of turkey fell 6% for January through October 2013 compared to the year before and shipments of meat from geese, ducks, and other birds decreased by a significant 55.2% from 2012 with a decrease in revenue of 59% to US$4.250 million.
