Brief: ADM Acquires California Gold Almonds Tree Nut and Seed Processing Assets

Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) has acquired California Gold Almonds’ tree nut and seed processing operations along with existing assets in Modesto, California for an undisclosed amount.

Under the terms of the deal, ADM will acquire the lease for the new processing plant, and will buy the assets existing at the facility. The acquisition will add to ADM’s current nut operations in Lodi and Stockton, California, giving the group additional ‘critical processing capacity’.

“This is a great addition that will help us continue to grow sales in our business, states Vince Macciocchi, president of ADM’s Wine Flavors and Specialty Ingredients unit, adding, “ This acquisition helps ensure that we stay ahead of consumer demand trends, and continue to meet customer needs in a growing market.”

Similar to its operations in Lodi and Stockton, the new Modesto plant is able to steam pasteurize, dice, slice, roast, mill and package a variety of nuts including almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts, pistachios, pecans, walnuts, macadamias, and hazelnuts.
