Brief: Karro Food Group has Secured £74 Million of Bank Funding

By Lynda Kiernan

North Yorkshire-based Karro Food Group has secured £74 million in funding from GE Capital and RBS Invoice Finance. The capital will be used to fund the group’s outward expansion and acquisition plans both in the UK and overseas.

The privately owned Karro, supplies fresh and cured pork, and cooked and frozen meats across the foodservice, retail, and manufacturing sectors, and reports annual turnover of £553 million.

Over the past two years Karro has reported an increase in profits of more than £20 million, and the focus of the group has shifted from internal operations to one of future global growth. This change in direction is demonstrated though the group’s recently announced £10 million capital investment program designed to drive its UK and global expansion strategy, and the beginning of work on the group’s £8 million investment at its largest facility in Northern Ireland.
