California Farmland Values a Record $7,300 Per Acre Average

According to the National Agricultural Statistics Service the 2013 average value of California farmland reached a record value of $7,300 per acre.  This value is $100 per acre greater than the previous record which was set in 2012.  The average value of all cropland for 2013 is $10,190 – up $380 per acre from 2012.  Irrigated cropland is at $12,500 per acre – up $500 per acre from last year and non-irrigated cropland is valued at $3,600 per acre.  Pastureland values remain steady from 2012 at $2,800 per acre.  Cash rents for California irrigated cropland in 2013 are $365 per acre – up $25 from 2012 and up $5 from the previous record set in 2008.  Southern California rental rates increased 19% to $457 per acre, Central Coast rental rates remained equal to last year at $1,010 per acre and the average North Coast rental rate of $267 per acre decreased 17% from 2012.  To read more about California agricultural land and rental rates for 2013:
