The Chinese company Perfect China has created the first Chinese multinational joint venture with a South African winery creating the company Perfect Wines of South Africa with the Val de Vie winery and vineyards. Perfect Wines now accounts for 60% of South Africa’s total wine exports to China, delivering 3 million bottles to the country per year. In the past ten years trade between the two countries has increased ten-fold. South African wineries and Chinese companies are increasingly looking to partner as China is now South Africa’s largest trading partner and China sees South Africa as a safe gateway for investors to the rest of Africa.
