The global commercial real estate company Colliers International has established an agribusiness and rural properties division in New Zealand based upon that country’s growing commercialization of its farming sector and its record foreign direct investment received. Since 2008 New Zealand has seen a significant increase in investment from overseas, reaching NZ$101 billion (US$90 billion) in 2014 resulting in its widespread family farm-model of production shifting toward commercial scale production. The New Zealand division will be led by Shane O’Brien, formerly of Northington Agricapital which he co-founded in 2012, and will provide transaction services to New Zealand’s increasingly global and corporate agribusinesses and producers.
