Corn Soybeans Follow Rising Temperatures into Canada: DuPont Pioneer

 

The Western Canadian Prairie is becoming better suited for corn and soybean cultivation instead of solely wheat as northern climates are becoming warmer.  DuPont, the world’s second largest seed seller after Monsanto is establishing research centers in Canada to develop corn and soybean hybrids that will be produced in the region in the future and is teaching farmers how to grow them.  Farmers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta sowed a record 121,400 hectares (300,000 acres) of corn last year according to the Canadian government.
