India’s Ratings & Research projects that India’s dairy sector (one of the world’s fastest growing markets) will see an expansion of 16.3% in fiscal year 2015. As production surpasses domestic demand, production costs remain low, and the rupee remains steady, export outlooks for the industry remain positive. Greater demand from Nepal, an embargo on milk imports from China, and drought conditions in New Zealand are also expected to help India’s export potential. In milk production the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) predicts a 5.47% growth year on year for fiscal year 2015. India’s dairy cooperatives were also assigned a stable outlook based on their financial performance and revenues for India’s large milk federations and unions are expected to be strong.
