Danish dairy giant Arla Foods Amba and European dairy co-opertive EGM Walhourn announced that the two companies plan to merge. Arla is a farmer-owned co-operative which is owned by farmers in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the UK and is the sixth largest dairy company in the world processing a total of 12.7 billion kilos of milk in 2013. EGM Walhorn is owned by farmers in Belgium, Germany, and The Netherlands and produces approximately 550 million kilograms of milk per year.
