Healthy Almond Prices Drive New Plantings

Almonds are Australia’s most valuable horticultural exports and export prices have increased from $4.05 in April 2012 to $7.82 in November 2013 – almost doubling in 19 months.  The Australian Almond Board has sold over 1 million buds for the next two years representing an increase of 10% to the country’s industry.  The Australian Almond Board does not expect prices to fall, especially in light of the extreme drought being experienced in California.
