One of the largest independent wine producers in Australia, Littore Wine Group, is for sale.
The sale includes a massive bank of 1,070 hectares of vineyards spread across five properties near Mildura, a large, modern winery, and a packaging and warehousing facility at Geelong in Victoria. The vineyards and the winery are being offered either separately or as a whole.
Founded more than 40 years ago by the Littore family, the large-scale, vertically integrated operation has been expertly maintained and has produced an average of 30,000 tons over the past four vintages.
The vineyards are mainly situated on the New South Wales side of the River Murray in the Murray Darling wine region, however, one 11 hectare vineyard is located adjacent to the winery, bottling facility and headquarters near Geelong, Victoria.
Arlington Vineyard, the single largest vineyard in the portfolio, boasts 739 hectares of plantings on 6,850 hectares of land in New South Wales. The portfolio also boasts tank storage of approximately 18 million liters, a crush capacity of 15,000 tons, administrative facilities, and a warehousing and packaging center. Included in the sale is 7,000 megaliters of high security water, which is expected to draw added attention to the sale.
“Given the huge scale of the offering, and current strong conditions in this sector, we are expecting significant interest from a wide range of buyer groups, both domestic and offshore,” said Tim Altschwager of Colliers International, which has been appointed by Receivers and Managers, Ferrier Hodgson to sell the portfolio. “The market for agricultural assets is improving, we are receiving strong interest in quality, large-scale properties with substantial water entitlements.”
The property also offers potential buyers the opportunity to convert it to alternative production, such as almonds or cotton, expanding its appeal to a broader field of investors.
