While agriculture is New Zealand’s largest sector – accounting for half of the country’s export earnings, it is seriously under-represented on the New Zealand Exchange (NZX) compared with other industries. The NZX is investing time and effort to meet with agricultural firms to explain the benefits of listing, as a lack of investment opportunities in the sector is a common frustration for investors. One example of possible future investment lies in MyFarm – a firm that organizes syndicates of high-net individuals who purchase farms, is planning an IPO on the Unlisted trading platform within this year, allowing investors to buy an interest in a syndicate.
