PE Firm, Piper Sells UK’s Biggest Hotdog Seller to Kerry Foods

Private equity firm Piper has exited the UK’s biggest hotdog seller, Rollover, selling it to Irish food group, Kerry Foods for an undisclosed amount. Rollover sells over 20 million hotdogs per year through British convenience stores, pubs, and stadiums.

Seeing the growing trend in ‘hot foods to-go’, Piper invested £4.5 million in Rollover in 2006 when the company had £6 million in sales and was positioned as a sandwich chain. Piper then bought in Simon Vine who changed Rollover’s strategy and repositioned the company in the convenience market.

Rollover reported £11.3 million in sales in 2014 and a pre-tax profit of £1.3 million on £13 million in revenues.

Kerry Foods states that the acquisition of Rollover will now work to help expand the groups ‘Kerry Foods hot-to-go food offering’.
