Plywood was the number one agricultural export item from China in 2013 according to a report from the U.S Department of Agriculture based on China’s custom data. Plywood accounted for 3.5% of total value of Chinese agricultural exports with the U.S. being the number one buyer taking 18.2% of shipments. The value of China’s total agricultural trade for 2013 increased by more than 6% to reach US$220.2 billion. China’s agricultural trade with the U.S., its biggest supplier, fell by 3% in 2012 to a value of US$39.3 billion. U.S. exports to China fell 4% to a value of $28.8 billion and China’s exports to the U.S. increased by over 3% to $10.5 billion. Soybeans, cotton, and wood products were the three highest value agricultural commodity imports to China for 2013 and, plywood, frozen tilapia filets, and apple juice were the three top Chinese agricultural exports to the U.S.
