Leading basmati rice company Bush Foods Overseas, Ltd. which sells basmati rice under the brand ‘Neesa’ announced it has sold a majority stake in the company to Qatar-based investment firm Hassad Foods for more than $100 million. Hassad Foods is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qatar Holding which is part of Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) which invests in the agriculture and livestock sectors. The funds invested by Hassad Food will be used to increase the processing capacity of the company by 25%-50% and brand promotion.
