Global Dairy Trade (GDT) is the online international dairy trading platform owned by Fonterra. The platform is now used by six major global companies including Fonterra, Dairy America, Amul, Arla, Murray Goulburn and Euroserum. Bi-monthly auctions are conducted by Boston-based Nasdaq-listed CRA International. Each auction lasts approximately two hours and can see enough product sold to fill a container ship (2,500 standard 20-foot containers) valued between US$100 million to US$250 million to 850 registered bidders around the world. This year marks the fifth year of operation for GDT which saw trading surpass US$10 billion in aggregate sales.
