South American Soybean Production Gains to Slow, Oil World Says

South American Soybean Production Gains to Slow, Oil World Says

According to Oil world Soybean production in the Southern Hemisphere will increase 4.6% to a record 152.7 million metric tons in 2013-14 however, the year on year gains will slow considerably.  Soybean production in Brazil is expected to increase 2.9% to 84 million tons accounting for 55% of the total output of the Southern Hemisphere but if the dryness in Mato Grosso continues crop prospected could deteriorate. Total South American output may be affected by a law in Uruguay enforcing crop rotation, and rural soybean growers in Brazil may also possibly reduce plantings because of a reduction in price at the farm level due to high transportation costs.  Between September and December soybean shipments from Brazil will slow leaving shipments from the U.S. to fill demand on the global market.
