Cargill India Acquires Dalmia Continental’s Olive Oil Business

Strengthening its position in the Indian edible oil industry Cargill has acquired the Dalmia Continental’s olive oil business which markets under the brand name ‘Leonardo’.  Cargill sells approximately 400 tons of olive oil per year in India under the brand Natural Fresh and through this acquisition, which analysts value at US$12 million, Cargill will become an industry leader in the Indian olive oil sector with Leonardo’s 25% share of the total market.  Cargill India, which recorded revenues of US$1.6 billion in fiscal year 2013, also acquired Sunflower Vanaspati in 2012 and Sweekar from Marico and Rath Vanaspati from Agro Tech.
