In a deal that will combine some of the most prominent milling companies in the U.S to form the third largest flour milling company in the country, Milner Milling and its partner Pendleton Flour Mills announced the acquisition of Cereal Food Processors, the fourth largest flour milling company in the U.S. The deal will almost triple the size of Milner and Pendleton. Once completed, the combined company will have a daily milling capacity of 164,000 cwts with mills in Alabama, California, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Kansas, Ohio, Oregon, and Utah. Almost one year ago in March, 2013 Con Agra Foods Inc. and Horizon Milling LLC announced plans to join forming the largest flour milling company in the U.S. however regulatory issues are causing the divestiture of four of the company’s 44 mills delaying the completion of the transaction. Upon completion, the new company (to be called Ardent) will have a capacity three times that of Milner/Pendleton/Cereal Foods combined.
