As part of the company’s planned $150 million capital expenditures for 2014, Pilgrim’s Pride will be expanding its poultry business in Veracruz, Mexico with the building of a new poultry complex. Bill Lovette, the president and CEO of Pilgrim’s Pride stated that because of Mexico’s growing economy, increasing chicken consumption and the location of poultry operations north of Mexico City, Mexico has significant potential for expansion. The company plans to begin with live sales and expand to include a feed mill, hatchery, and importing hatching eggs as the breeder supply is built.
