Ukraine Unrest Halts IPO Plans for Biggest Farm Company

A lack of confidence in Ukrainian markets, as well as increasing political violence contributed to the postponement of plans for the initial public offering (IPO) of UkrLandFarming Plc, the biggest agricultural company in Ukraine. At present, the holding company manages 654,000 hectares and produces a variety of crops including grains, beet sugar, and beef. CEO, Oleg Bakhmatyuk, who planned to sell 20-25% of shares in Hong Kong and London, said of postponing the IPO that  “Not a single investor will invest in Ukraine now.” If the situation in Ukraine improves, there is a chance that the IPO could be completed by the end of 2015.
