Rural Equities announced that The Hawkes Farming Group controlled by the Cushings family has bought an 11% parcel in agribusiness Tandou in an investment geared toward piggy-backing on Tandou’s water rights – a factor which Rural Equities views as underpinning Australian agriculture. Rural Equities, valued at $138 million, owns 27 farms of which nine are leased out and this purchase allows the further diversification of its agricultural portfolio. Tandou, valued at $71.6 million focuses on large-scale irrigated production of cereal grains, cotton, sheep meat and providing agribusiness services to its customers.
